Pieces that often need a second set of hands
Furniture removal can include couches, sectionals, recliners, tables, chairs, bookcases, dressers, bed frames, patio furniture, and other accepted pieces. The team can plan for inside removal when the route is described in advance.
Some furniture is much heavier than it looks. Sleeper sofas, powered recliners, glass tops, stone pieces, adjustable bed bases, and large entertainment units should be identified before scheduling.
Donation depends on condition and acceptance
Clean, assembled, gently used furniture may qualify for donation, but no organization accepts every item at every location. Goodwill Southwest Florida says furniture must be assembled, gently used, and free of large stains, rips, or tears; large items may not be accepted at all donation sites. Confirm before promising an item to a recipient.
Make the exit route easier
- Remove loose contents from drawers and cabinets.
- Secure or remove glass shelves and detachable parts.
- Measure tight turns when a piece barely fit on the way in.
- Protect the floor around the work route and keep people and pets clear.
- Do not attempt a heavy lift that requires equipment or more people.
